Sales Manager
Salary: $85,000–$90,000 plus commission.
This role is with Forward Air's Wholesale Team in Los Angeles, CA. We're a leading asset light transportation company that provides expedited less than truckload (LTL) services across the U.S., Canada, and Latin America. You'd be managing a territory, driving revenue across our ground product lines, and building new customer relationships from scratch.
What you'll actually do day to day
- Drive revenue growth across all ground product lines of business (LOB).
- Identify and develop new customer relationships through various lead generation practices.
- Take ownership of your assigned territory and be accountable for station growth.
- Develop and implement General Rate Increase (GRI) and Customer Specific Pricing (CSP) strategies.
- Conduct 20+ face to face meetings each week with customers and prospects to build strong relationships.
- Educate customers on our ground product services so they understand what we offer and actually use it.
- Create and own the strategic roadmap for ground product services.
- Run strategic business reviews to assess performance and find areas for improvement.
- Act as the liaison for contract needs ; making sure everything aligns with company policies and what the customer wants.
- Coordinate onboarding for new customers and keep everyone accountable during that process.
- Manage forecasting and pacing so you hit your revenue and growth targets.
- Make sure quality standards line up with customer expectations at every step.
The kind of background we're looking for
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience in sales management ; ideally within logistics or transportation.
- A track record of finding new customers through different lead generation approaches ; not just one method over another.
- A solid understanding of ground transportation services and how the market works today.
- The ability to communicate clearly, negotiate well, work with people effectively. These aren't buzzwords here ; you'll need them daily when you're face to face with clients 20+ times a week.
- The skill to develop real strategic plans ; not just talk about them ; then execute on them without someone holding your hand all day long.
