Registered Nurse
About This Role
Ambulatory Clinical Supervisor – Registered Nurse
This role is based at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital in Los Angeles, CA and reports to the Director of Ambulatory Services. You'll oversee daily operations across one or more outpatient clinics or specialty departments. It's a supervisory position that blends clinical oversight with operational management ; you won't just be managing people; you'll be managing how care gets delivered.
Your shift is an 8 hour span where you provide first line supervision for your assigned area. That could be a primary care department, a specialty clinic, urgent care, or a specific shift in the emergency medicine department. The goal is straightforward: make sure patients get high quality, accessible, cost effective care that meets hospital standards and regulatory requirements.
What You'll Actually Do
- Supervise the day to day operations and patient care delivery in your assigned area.
- Make sure every staff member follows the Nurse Practice Act, TJC standards, and all federal, state, and local rules.
- Build real working relationships with physicians and other departments ; not just polite ones.
- Work with nursing and other teams to solve patient care problems, meet access demands, keep convenient hours, improve costs, and write consistent policies.
- Keep patient care and quality service standards high enough that patients and internal teams are satisfied.
- Act as the patient's advocate when issues come up.
- Recommend and evaluate process improvements across the whole continuum of care.
- Monitor budgets, resource allocations, and financial performance. Then figure out where to cut costs without cutting quality.
- Oversee how equipment, supplies, and medications are used and maintained.
- Help the Site Administrator develop and maintain staff competency.
- Supervise how department policies and procedures are put into practice ; everything should support the department's and organization's goals.
- Collaborate with physicians, the Medical Director, the Site Administrator, and the Director of Ambulatory Services to decide what patient services are needed and how the department runs day to day.
- Measure internal and external customer satisfaction and find ways to improve it.
- Help manage and resolve HR issues, labor relations, employee safety, and risk management problems.
- Procure supplies from reputable vendors at competitive prices.
- Get involved in developing and implementing long range plans.
- Help solve administrative and operational problems, including maintenance of clinic property, computer systems, and software applications.
- Attend management or leadership meetings as needed.
- Stay in compliance with every regulation and standard that applies.
- Act as a liaison between the clinic and external agencies.
- Help leadership create strategic plans and objectives based on what patients actually need.
- Maintain strict confidentiality ; always.
- Handle the hiring, training, and supervision of all non provider clinic staff.
- Evaluate employee performance and recommend merit increases, promotions, or disciplinary actions.
- Resolve problems in both administrative and clinical areas.
- Organize regular staff meetings and set the agendas.
- Train staff so they operate in full compliance with government and regulatory agencies.
- Perform other duties as they come up.
