About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this Project Engineer role. It's with a contractor that's been around since '89, and they're 100% employee owned now. That means you get a stake in what you build. They handle a lot of the heavy stuff that keeps things running: underground utilities, pipeline rehab, water and wastewater facilities, paving; you name it.
What you'd be doing
You're the one making sure the project's engine runs smoothly from planning to closing the books. It's a mix of paperwork, people, and problem solving.
- Handle material procurement and expediting to keep things moving on site.
- Help plan out work activities, both for crews we send out and subcontractors.
- You'll guide and mentor other engineering staff on the project.
- When a job wraps up, you're coordinating all the final documentation, warranties, and payments.
- Assist with building and maintaining the project schedule and cost tracking system.
- Keep an eye on inventory and track equipment.
- Monitor labor productivity for work our own crews are doing.
- Coordinate drawings, specs, submissions, and manage document control.
- Run point on change orders: setting them up, issuing docs, pricing them out.
- Manage subcontracts from writing the initial scope to answering questions and tracking progress.
- The admin side involves preparing progress claims and estimates.
The background we need
A few specific things are non negotiable here. And if you've got experience with wastewater projects? That's a major bonus in your favor.
- A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Management or something comparable is required.
- You need direct experience with CMAR (Construction Manager at Risk) project delivery work.
- Hands on experience with wet utilities projects is essential.
- A solid background in project document controls is a must have skill for this role.
The deal
The pay range is $70k to $100k per year. On top of that base salary there’s a bonus package. The benefits are legitimately competitive; they didn't just slap that word on there. You get stock options because of the employee ownership structure. Work schedules have some flexibility. They provide a company truck or an allowance for one. And if you want to move up quickly? They support accelerated career growth here.
