About This Role
Hey there. I've been recruiting for supply chain and procurement roles for over a decade, and this one caught my eye. It's not just another purchasing job; it's a strategic role with a utility company that's been around for a while. They need someone who can think long term about how they buy things, manage the relationships, and make sure everything runs smoothly and compliantly. If you're the type who gets energized by building a strategy and seeing the savings roll in, this could be your spot.
The Role
You'll be the point person for sourcing and procurement across specific spending categories. That means you own the strategy from start to finish: figuring out what to buy, from whom, and on what terms. You're not just placing orders; you're analyzing spending data to find where we can save money or work more efficiently. A big part of your day will involve negotiating contracts and making sure our suppliers are delivering on their promises. And because it's the utility industry, you have to keep regulatory, safety, and operational requirements front of mind in every decision you make.
- Build and execute sourcing strategies for your assigned categories.
- Dig into spend data to find opportunities for cost reduction.
- Negotiate supplier contracts to get us the best possible terms.
- Manage vendor relationships to ensure quality, timing, and service.
- Use Maximo Supply Chain software to track and manage everything.
- Work with teams in engineering, operations, and finance to align on needs.
- Keep an eye on market trends and how our suppliers are performing.
- Push for continuous improvement in how we source things.
- Make sure all activities follow company policy and industry regulations.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate has been doing this strategic sourcing thing in utilities or energy for a good while. You know procurement inside and out; spend analysis, contract negotiation, supplier management; and you're comfortable being the expert in the room. You've got to be able to partner with different departments; they need someone who can speak finance with one group and operations with another. And if you've used Maximo before? That's a huge plus right off the bat.
- A bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or something related is required.
- You need at least 10 years of experience in strategic sourcing or procurement.
- Hands on experience with Maximo Supply Chain software is non negotiable; they use it daily.
- Strong analytical skills for spend analysis and strategy development are essential.
- A proven history of successful contract negotiations is important here.
- The ability to build productive relationships with vendors is key; it’s about partnership.
- You have excellent communication skills for collaborating across different teams internally. bbbbbbbbbb
