About This Role
What you'll actually do on the job
This isn't a sit behind a desk kind of role. You'll be on site, coordinating crews and making sure the concrete work stays on schedule and under budget. You'll oversee foremen and leadmen, delegate tasks, and keep an eye on deadlines so the project doesn't slip. You'll also work directly with the client to address their concerns, handle change order requests, and document any material damage when deliveries come in. If a contract dispute pops up, you'll investigate it and recommend a solution to upper management. You'll check the quality of completed work, monitor productivity reports and payroll records, and make sure everyone has the safety equipment they need and is using it properly. You'll also help with hiring, training, and performance reviews when needed. And when something isn't working, you'll suggest better ways to improve production, performance, quality, and safety.
Supervisory responsibilities
- Supervise at least one to two Foremen and Leadmen
- Manage crews of up to 30 or more employees
- Lead, mentor, and provide direction to your direct reports
- Facilitate technical and safety training and send employees to appropriate training schools as needed
Skills and experience you need
You should have five years of experience in a supervisory role in heavy industrial construction, specifically supporting concrete work. That's the baseline. Beyond that, you need a solid working knowledge of all construction tools, machinery, and methods. You'll also need to know MIC Health and Safety programs and any project specific regulations. You should be comfortable reading specifications, blueprints, addendums, and change orders. And you'll need to be able to perform minor job layout using levels, a transit, and string line. You're also expected to set a personal example of safe behavior and actively participate in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors when you're on site.
Location and travel details
You can be based in any city or state in the U.S. This is a traveling position ; you'll be on the road up to 90% of the time. Projects typically run 8 to 18 months each, and you could be placed anywhere in the country. We offer a designated per diem on top of your base salary to help cover living expenses. This position is also eligible for mobilization support, which may include mileage reimbursement. You'll get one longer weekend every four weeks for extra time at home. Plus, you'll receive a company vehicle and fuel card (or a vehicle allowance).
