Special Education Teacher
About This Role
Alright, let's cut through the fluff. I'm looking for a special education teacher to finish out this school year and take on the next one in Long Beach, CA. The district needs someone who can start now and see it through to June 2026. It's a full time, on site position working with high school students.
The Role
You'll be in the classroom, doing the work. That means developing IEPs, adapting lessons, and managing all the details that come with supporting high school students in special education. Your focus is on helping them navigate these crucial years. The schedule is full time at 37.5 hours a week.
What You Need to Bring
- A valid special education teaching credential or license for the state. If you're in the process of getting it, that's okay too.
- At least one year of professional experience as a special education teacher within the last three years. We can count your residency or clinical practicum toward that.
- You must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We can't sponsor visas for this role.
The Details & Pay
This is a contract position running from your start date through June 19, 2026. The pay range is $38.25 to $43.99 per hour on a local contract.
And there's a bonus on the table: a $2,000 completion bonus if you commit to and finish the full school year assignment (that's 30+ hours a week).
Benefits They Actually Offer
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- The health coverage includes infertility treatment and domestic partners.
- They even offer summer insurance coverage between school years.
- You get paid for non student days and holidays.
- There's a 401(k) plan with matching.
- A wellness program and an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- Reimbursement for continuing education units (CEUs) and license fees.
- Refer someone else who gets hired? That's a $1,000 referral bonus for you. You could earn up to $3,000 total in referrals on top of everything else.
