About This Role

The Role

You'll work directly with the Executive Chef to run the kitchen and support the staff. This isn't a position where you just follow orders ; you're expected to manage and mentor the team while bringing strong culinary skills to every plate. When the Executive Chef isn't there, you're the one making sure the planned menu gets executed properly. That means every meal served to residents and guests meets standards for portion, doneness, freshness, and presentation.

You might work across any level of care at Regents Point in Long Beach, CA. The shift schedule varies, and you need to be available weekends and holidays. This is a full time, non exempt position.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Supervise all kitchen team members, making sure they follow recipes and procedures
  • Prepare and cook meals with nutritional value and creative appeal
  • Keep every dish consistent ; same portion size, same doneness, same presentation every time
  • Manage the kitchen in the Executive Chef's absence
  • Present yourself professionally to keep residents satisfied with their dining experience

What You Need to Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some culinary schooling is preferred)
  • 3 5 years of related work experience
  • That experience should include kitchen supervisory work in a hotel, senior community, or restaurant setting
  • An associate's degree in culinary arts or formal culinary training is preferred
  • ServSafe certification, Food Handlers certification, or enrollment in one of those courses ; preferred but not required
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience that gives you the right skills, knowledge, and abilities

Pay and Schedule

You'll earn between $30 and $32 an hour, depending on your experience. Shifts vary, but you must be able to work weekends and holidays.
