About This Role
What You'll Do
This role is a mix of clinical oversight, operational management, and team leadership. You'll assist with running the clinic day to day and step in to take full responsibility when the Administrator is out. That's not a small thing; it means you need to know the clinic inside and out.
You'll help plan and coordinate patient scheduling so people get seen on time and staffing levels make sense. You'll keep an eye on supply use and staff labor hours to make sure nothing is wasted. And you'll make sure all logs and dialysis run sheets get sent to billing. Beyond that, you'll take on whatever duties come up to meet patient care or operational needs.
On the patient care side, you'll coordinate across departments and help develop ways to measure services. That includes keeping a chronological record of care as required by the ESRD Network Coordinating Council and Medicare. You'll work with the Administrator to keep patient records thorough and current, documenting every treatment, activity, and communication with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals. You'll also promote the quality management program by training staff and getting them involved in patient outcomes, helping hit target goals for quality and patient care.
You'll review all incident reports, make recommendations, and take action where needed. And you'll report at the monthly QAPI meeting when the Administrator or management asks you to.
Operational Readiness and Compliance
You need to stay current with federal, state, and local laws, including health care professionals practice act requirements. You'll work with the Administrator to keep the clinic compliant across the board. That means helping develop and follow up on Corrective Action Plans from internal and external surveys.
You might take on Charge Nurse duties when needed. You could also serve as the facility's Alternate CEO if the Governing Body delegates that to you. You'll conduct or participate in formal and informal meetings with the Governing Body, Regional Director, Medical Director, and staff as delegated. Monthly staff meetings, in service education sessions, and team patient care planning meetings need to happen on schedule, and you'll make sure they do.
You'll keep the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Program current at all times. You'll establish and submit all required records and reports on staff, patients, and clinic operations if the Administrator delegates that to you. And you'll continuously monitor the facility to make sure it's safe, sanitary, and that all equipment works properly. Supply levels need to be adequate, and everything needs to meet current laws and regulations. You'll oversee equipment and supply maintenance to that standard.
You'll respond to every emergency in the clinic. You need to know the emergency equipment and all emergency procedures inside out. And you'll supervise the maintenance of equipment, the building areas the center uses, and other property that belongs to the center.
Partnerships and Staff Development
You'll maintain a collaborative working relationship with the Medical Director and physicians. You'll build and keep positive relationships with Administrators, area hospitals, agencies, vendors, and the community. You'll actively promote GUEST customer service standards and develop effective relationships at every level of the organization. When someone has an inquiry or complaint, you'll respond effectively.
You'll make sure every staff member meets the qualifications for their position and performs within the limits of company policy, health care professionals practice acts, and applicable laws. You'll serve as a subject matter expert for patient needs and concerns, staff education, and in service sessions. You'll help with recruitment, training, development, and supervision of all personnel. You'll assist with personnel management and employee relations, including evaluating performance and counseling employees. You'll uphold management goals by leading staff in team concepts and promoting a team effort. And you'll communicate expectations clearly, accept accountability, and hold others accountable for their performance.
