The Work & The Pay

You're running 100% no touch intermodal freight. That means containers from the ports and rail yards. Your day will be at places like Port Newark, Port Elizabeth, the airport cargo areas, and local rail yards in Kearny or North Bergen. You'll also do drops at regional warehouses and drop yards around North Jersey.

The average weekly pay is $1,600 to $1,700. You get an hourly base rate for all your on duty time. On top of that, there's extra incentive pay that stacks up for each stop you make at Port Newark or Port Elizabeth, stops at CSX or Norfolk Southern rail yards, load mileage, and occasional NYC runs. There's also an optional incentive if you're hauling hazmat.

Schedule

You pick your shift. First shift dispatch is between 6:00 AM and 8:00 AM. Second shift dispatch is between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. It's a Monday through Friday schedule, with shifts typically running 10 to 12 hours. If you want more money, optional Saturday shifts are available.

What You Need To Have

• A valid Class A CDL.
• Two years of verifiable tractor/trailer experience within the last five years.
• One year of specific port and rail experience within the last five years.
• A current TWIC card is mandatory.
• An acceptable motor vehicle record; one at fault accident is okay.
• A consistent and stable work history with no Clearinghouse violations.
