About This Role
Hey there. I've been recruiting nurses for over a decade, and I can tell you this isn't your standard job ad. This is for an Emergency Room RN at HCA HealthONE Swedish in Littleton, CO. They just bumped their rates, and they're serious about building careers, not just filling slots.
What You'll Be Doing
You're the one coordinating and delivering the care. Your day is built around assessing patients, performing procedures as ordered, teaching them and their families what's happening, and managing their overall path. You'll translate complex medical info into something understandable. That means talking about conditions, treatment plans, medications with their side effects, and what lifestyle or follow up steps come next.
A big part of the role is pain management; you'll assess it regularly and reassess after interventions. You document everything thoroughly and in real time in the patient's record. The goal is exceptional care, so you're responding to requests quickly and trying to get ahead of needs before they're even voiced.
The Schedule & Pay
This is a full time position. Shifts run from about 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM.
The hourly wage range is $36.50 to $55.25. The note on the posting says they recently increased rates for RNs. It also mentions that the typical candidate is hired below the midpoint of that range, and your specific skills and experience will determine where you land.
What You Need to Bring
- A current Registered Nurse license for Colorado (or a qualifying multistate license).
- Your nursing diploma; a BSN is preferred.
- At least one year of experience working in an Emergency Room. Two or more years is what they'd really like to see.
- You need to obtain a few certifications within your first 30 days: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and either Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS).
Why It's Different Here
They talk a lot about supporting your "unique calling" in patient care, which I appreciate. It's not just words; they back it up with real programs.
- Career Growth: They have a nationwide transfer policy if you ever want to move, plus mentorship, clinical education courses, support for professional certifications, and tuition assistance.
- Health & Wellbeing: The benefits cover medical, prescription drugs, dental, vision, behavioral health, and telemedicine. There's wellbeing support with free counseling services.
