
About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this sales job in Little Rock, AR. It's not just about moving lumber; it's about knowing the market inside and out and connecting the right product to the right customer. You'd be part of Weyerhaeuser's Southern Lumber Sales team, working from their office there.
What you'd do
Your main focus is building relationships and driving growth. You'll work with a mix of long term customers and new prospects across different areas like residential construction, truss manufacturers, treated wood, home centers, and industrial clients. The goal is to match what they need with what we can supply, now and in the future.
- Get to know your customers deeply; their specific product needs and how they operate in their particular market segment.
- Hit strategic sales targets by using your industry knowledge and keeping the customer's priorities front and center.
- You'll manage some large, complicated contracts. That means handling all the pieces: logistics, base price negotiations, and any product adders.
- A big part of the job is using our sales system to manage complex transactions accurately. You'll also use data analysis tools and Microsoft Office to shape your sales approach day to day.
- Strong negotiation skills are a must. You'll be closing deals that aren't always straightforward.
- Understanding how our business works is crucial. That includes knowing what each manufacturing mill produces and how those processes affect the product.
- You'll contribute to strategic planning for our mills and keep a sharp eye on the regional competition; what they're making and what they can do.
The background we need
We're looking for someone who gets this industry. Here’s what that takes:
- You need at least five years of sales or purchasing experience in lumber or another commodity based industry.
- If you have a related Bachelor’s degree, we can work with three years of relevant experience instead.
- A history of building solid relationships and negotiating effectively is non negotiable.
- You've handled complex deals before and you're good at solving problems analytically.
- Show us you can consult on sales programs and actually generate profitable business.
- You should understand how products are used, where market trends are heading, plus the ins and outs of transportation and supply chains.
- Talent with MS Office is expected. Experience with PowerBI or SAP is a big plus.
- You need to communicate clearly; whether you're talking, writing an email, or giving a presentation.
- The role requires some travel; expect to be on the road up to 20% of the time.
A bit more about us & what we provide
The money:
The salary range we're targeting for this role is $88,910 to $133,506 per year. Where you land depends on your skillset and experience. You're also eligible for our annual merit increase program. On top of that, there's an Annual Incentive Program with a cash bonus target of 7% of your base pay. The actual payout can range from zero up to double that target based on plan funding.
