About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for a Senior Patient Care RN Manager with our hospice team in Lincoln, NE. You'd report to the Executive Director or Administrator. The core of it is leading the clinical side of things; managing patient care, supervising the nursing and clinical staff, and making sure everything runs smoothly and by the book.
What you'd be doing
You're the one keeping the ship steady. That means overseeing all patient care operations to maintain quality and compliance. You'll supervise, teach, and develop the nursing and clinical associates on your team.
- Managing day to day clinical and administrative workflows. Think handling referrals, DME pickups, checking Medicare eligibility and insurance verification, and tracking patient benefits.
- Running the Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings where care plans are reviewed and clinical documentation gets updated.
- The schedule falls under you; making visit assignments and ensuring those visits are completed on time.
- You're a point of contact for new referrals and clinical questions, so responding with compassion and professionalism is key.
- Serving as the main link between the clinical teams, leadership, and outside providers.
- A big part of the job is ensuring we adhere to all hospice regulations: Medicare, Medicaid, JCAHO, ACHC.
- And sometimes, you'll need to provide skilled nursing care yourself; there are on call responsibilities involved.
What you need to have
Let's get into the specifics. These aren't just nice to haves; they're what we need someone to walk in with.
- A current Registered Nurse (RN) license for this state.
- You need to be a graduate of an accredited nursing program. An Associate degree works if you've got solid relevant experience.
- At least 3 years of direct patient care experience under your belt.
- A working knowledge of hospice principles, regulatory compliance, and managed care is essential.
- Strong communication skills matter here; you're collaborating with everyone.
- Be comfortable with tech: Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Microsoft Office, typical healthcare software.
- A valid driver’s license and automobile insurance are required.
- CPR certification is also required.
The extras we'd love to see
If you have any of these, it's a definite plus. But they aren't deal breakers if you don't.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Two or more years specifically in hospice or home care. Previous leadership experience where you supervised clinically or managed a program. A Certified Hospice and Palliative Nurse (CHPN) certification.
