Machine Operator

The Role

This is a hands on Machine Operator position in Lexington, KY working with Casemaker equipment. You'll be setting up and running these machines according to job specs while keeping an eye on safety, quality, and productivity. When you're not on a machine, you'll step into Bindery Assistant duties ; book inspections, special projects, that kind of thing. It's a role that keeps you moving.

What You'll Actually Do

• Set up and run Casemaker machines following job specifications and all bindery processes
• Supervise your crew for safety, quality control, and productivity as assigned by the shift supervisor
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks as assigned
• Handle Bindery Assistant work when not operating equipment
• Tackle other duties like book inspections or special projects
• Comply with OSHA regulations and company safety policies; watch for hazards and report concerns
• Direct the crew's productivity, safety, and quality while they work on the equipment

What You Need to Bring

Some things are non negotiable here:

• A high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
• The ability to read English and do basic math
• Comfort using basic tools like rulers, tape measures, screwdrivers, wrenches
• Basic computer skills ; think Windows type applications
• A mechanical aptitude shown through work or other experience; you need to want to learn how machines operate and be able to troubleshoot when something isn't working right
• A cooperative attitude with solid communication skills around others on the crew
• Prior bindery experience is required along with at least 3–6 years of related work experience
