About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this float pool job at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. It's not your standard unit assignment. You're the reinforcement, the experienced hand that goes where you're needed most across critical care. The idea is to give you the tools and support so you can focus entirely on your patients.

The Role

You'll be providing patient care under the direction of the Nurse Manager or Director for whatever department you're assigned to that shift. Think of it as providing therapeutic and administrative services for patient care in support of the hospital's mission. Your primary focus is caring for acutely ill patients in units covered by the Float Pool agreement.

Schedule & Logistics

This is a part time night position. You're looking at two 12 hour shifts each week, plus rotating weekends.

What You Need to Bring

  • A graduate from an accredited nursing school with either an ADN or a BSN degree.
  • A current RN license for the state of practice or an active compact license.
  • Your BLS certification is required right from the start, on hire.
  • You'll need to get your ACLS within two months of starting.
  • TNCC and PALS certifications are required within six months of hire.
  • At least five years of critical care experience specifically in ICU, ER, and/or PACU settings.

A Bit About the Hospital

Overland Park Regional Medical Center is a 340+ bed facility. They're Johnson County’s only Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Level II Trauma Center. They hold accreditations for Stroke and Chest Pain Centers. It's a main destination for Women's & Children’s services in the area; they have the region’s only Maternal Fetal Health Center for critically ill mothers and babies. The campus has an antepartum unit, labor and delivery unit,and a Level III NICU. There are four emergency rooms in their network: a dedicated Pediatric ER and two freestanding ERs in Olathe and Shawnee. They treat over 45,ooo patients every year.
