Ultrasound Technologist

About the Role

This is a PRN Ultrasound Technologist position at Research Medical Center in Leawood, KS. You'd be working under the direction of the Radiologist, performing a full range of sonography procedures. That includes routine exams, interventional studies like biopsies and centesis, and vascular ultrasounds.

You need documented cross training before doing vascular studies on your own. And you'll work with patients across the entire age spectrum: from newborns to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

What You'll Do

• Perform ordered Ultrasound procedures according to protocol.
• Carry out Ultrasound guided biopsies and various centesis procedures.
• Complete Ultrasound vascular procedures after proper cross training.
• Get to know each Ultrasound system in the department inside and out.
• Your day also involves documenting in patient and departmental records.
• Cleaning equipment, including high level disinfection (HLD), is part of the job.
• You're expected to maintain safety and infection control practices at all times.
• The role includes participating in Performance Improvement and Quality Control initiatives.
• Work within established policy and procedure guidelines, complying with JCAHO, State, vascular accreditation body, and other regulatory standards.

The Qualifications We Need

You must be a graduate from an accredited program. That could be a two year or four year BA program in Radiologic Technology followed by sonography training, or completion of requirements from an accredited school of sonography including all clinical hours.

• A year of hospital based medical sonography experience is preferred; that should include biopsy work.
• You have to be able to accurately complete exams as physicians order them.
• Familiarity with radiology information systems for pulling prior reports is needed.
• ARRT and/or ARDMS registry eligibility is required when you start.
• Crucially: full ARDMS and RVT registration is required within 12 months of your hire date.

Scheduling & Credentials

The schedule is PRN. You need BLS Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within your first 30 days.
