Job Overview

This Ultrasound Technologist position involves performing diagnostic sonographic exams. You'll work directly with patients, using ultrasound equipment to produce images for physician review. Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform a range of abdominal, obstetric, gynecologic, vascular, and small parts exams.
  • Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and answering their questions.
  • Select appropriate transducer settings and adjust equipment to optimize image quality.
  • Identify and document normal versus pathological findings during the scan.
  • Maintain patient records and ensure all studies are properly archived in the PACS system.
  • Follow established protocols for infection control and equipment sanitation.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program.
  • Active certification from ARDMS or CCI is required; specialty credentials are a major plus.
  • A year or more of hands on scanning experience is preferred.
  • You need a solid grasp of human anatomy, physiology, and basic pathology.
  • The job involves standing for long periods, lifting patients with assistance, and pushing heavy equipment.

You'll typically work in a hospital department or an outpatient imaging center. The pace varies; some days are booked solid with appointments, others have more breathing room. You're part of a team that includes radiologists, other techs, and front desk staff.
