Sterile Processing Technician

About This Role

Sterile Processing Technician

Summerlin Hospital Medical Center is part of The Valley Health System, which runs six hospitals in Southern Nevada. Our facility has 485 beds and handles a serious volume every month: an average of 450 deliveries, a busy emergency department, advanced cardiovascular care, and a full range of surgical services. We're also an accredited Chest Pain with PCI facility and a Primary Stroke Center.

This role manages the Sterile Processing Department in Las Vegas, NV. You'll oversee local operations to make sure reprocessed items get to clinical stakeholders on time. That means supporting Surgical Services, nursing units, and off site clinics. You'll ensure sterilization and high level disinfection functions meet every regulatory requirement. And you'll manage SPD personnel directly while acting as the liaison between SPD and other departments.

The budget side matters too. Working with the Surgical Services Director, you'll determine resource needs, allocate resources, and keep productivity efficient without wasting cost effectiveness. You'll also develop internal review systems that keep service programs in compliance with accrediting organizations.

What you'd be doing day to day

  • Leading daily operations in Sterile Processing so everything runs smoothly for Surgical Services and nursing units
  • Coordinating timely delivery of reprocessed instruments and equipment across the hospital
  • Making sure all sterilization and HLD processes are compliant with regulations
  • Managing SPD staff ; scheduling, training, performance
  • Serving as the go between for SPD and other departments to resolve problems quickly
  • Maintaining effective interdepartmental relationships so cooperation happens naturally
  • Handling budget decisions alongside the Surgical Services Director
  • Running internal reviews to confirm all service programs stay compliant with regulators
