What this role is about
Jacoby & Meyers wants a Litigation Paralegal for their Las Vegas, NV office. It's full time, hybrid (1 2 days in the office), and pays between $24 and $48 an hour. If you're bilingual in Spanish, that's a plus ; but not required.
The core of the job is personal injury litigation on the plaintiffs' side. You'll handle your own caseload while working with 1 2 attorneys. It's a high volume firm, but they keep caseloads reasonable so clients actually get attention.
What you'll actually do
Litigation work:
- Draft and file pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents in Federal and State Court.
- Calendar hearings and deadlines, organize case files, manage attorney logistics.
- Prepare exhibits and documents for discovery, mediation, and trial.
- Help attorneys with interrogatories, depositions, mediations, and other events.
- Gather information from medical records and other sources.
- Assist with liens, bills, and case settlements.
- Respond to and propound written discovery.
Client management:
- Maintain consistent communication with clients to build trust and rapport.
- Work with medical providers, insurance adjusters, and health insurance companies to compile documentation ; medical records/bills, lost wage info, photographs ; for every client's injuries and losses.
- Some phone answering as needed.
The experience you need
A minimum of two years as a litigation paralegal on the plaintiffs' side of personal injury. You should know deadlines inside out ; motions, discovery responses, court rules. You need solid writing skills (think clear drafting) along with working knowledge of Nevada Revised Statutes and civil procedure rules. Organization matters here; so does attention to detail. Comfortable learning new software? Good. And a good attitude helps too ; they mention that specifically.
