Chief Nursing Officer

Jobot·Las Vegas, NV

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Chief Nursing Officer role. It's a big one.

We're working with several inpatient hospitals in Las Vegas, NV to find the right person for their top nursing leadership spot. This isn't just another director job; you'd be reporting straight to the CEO and sitting on the executive team. You're the one setting the strategy for nursing, driving quality, and owning everything from staffing to operations across the entire facility. If you're an experienced nurse leader who's ready for that level of visibility and wants to make a real impact in a hospital that's growing or going through change, this is it.

What you'll be doing

  • You're providing the executive leadership and strategic direction for all nursing and patient care services.
  • The buck stops with you for 24/7 nursing operations, staffing, quality, and compliance.
  • Leading and developing the nursing leadership team is a core part of your day; think Nurse Managers and department heads.
  • Your oversight will include clinical departments like Nursing Services, Infection Prevention, Education or Staff Development, Respiratory Therapy, Wound Care, Dialysis, Scheduling, and ancillary services. The exact mix depends on which location we're talking about.
  • You'll partner closely with the CEO and other executives on organizational strategy, improving performance, and shaping culture.
  • Making sure everything meets regulatory and accreditation standards is on your list.
  • Managing nursing budgets, FTEs, policies, procedures; it all comes under your purview.
  • A big part of success here is supporting recruitment and keeping your nursing staff engaged.
  • And you'll be driving those quality initiatives that push patient care forward across the board.

The experience you need

A few things are non negotiable here. You need a current RN license for the state where you'd be working (or you can get it). BLS certification is required; ACLS would be great to have. You also need CRRN certification or must get it within a year of being eligible.

For education: at least a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or something related. An advanced degree is preferred or should be in progress if you don't have it yet.

The experience side is specific. We need someone with at least five years of inpatient hospital nursing experience under their belt. On top of that, we need at least two years of recent nursing management experience; and by recent I mean within the last five years. That management experience has to include 24 hour operational accountability; managing FTEs and staffing; overseeing policies and procedures; handling budgets; plus performance management and disciplinary action. If your last management role was six years ago? It won't fit what they're looking for right now.

A few more details about these roles

  • The structure is clear: direct report to the CEO as part of the executive leadership team.
  • You'll oversee inpatient nursing teams along with those multiple clinical departments I mentioned earlier.
  • The nurse to patient ratios run around 1:8 at these facilities.
  • Sizes vary but think roughly 60+ beds with average daily censuses between 45–55 patients.
  • The number of direct reports changes by location too; you could have Nurse Managers reporting up or lead over 40+ nursing staff directly depending on where you land. Some of these openings exist because there's been a leadership transition; they want someone who can step in and make an immediate mark from day one.

The pay & benefits

The salary range for this position is $130k - $175k per year. The exact offer will depend on which specific location in Las Vegas, NV we match you with along with your background. Relocation assistance might be available depending on where you'd go. The benefits package includes medical insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, a solid retirement plan with a 401(k) match, paid time off (PTO) plus holidays, life insurance, disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), and tuition reimbursement if you want to keep growing professionally.
