Performance Foodservice

CDL-B Driver

About This Role

What this job is

You're driving a tractor trailer or straight truck out of Rogers, MN. The schedule is five days a week, Monday through Saturday. Your day starts early; dispatch happens between midnight and 5 AM. You'll be out for about 10 to 12 hours each day.

The pay starts at $24 an hour during your training period. After that, you move to a component pay structure. There's also a $5,000 sign on bonus available; terms apply, and if you've worked for any Performance Food Group company in the last six months, you aren't eligible for it.

What you'll do on the road

  • Run local, over the road (OTR), shuttle, and overnight routes to deliver food products.
  • Your day begins and ends with thorough DOT safety checks on your truck and trailer.
  • Make sure the freight is loaded right and secured before you head out.
  • Check invoices against what's on the truck so everything matches up.
  • Drive your route safely and deliver orders on time to restaurants, schools, hospitals, and hotels.
  • Unload the product yourself at each stop, often using a two wheeler or lift gate to move cases into the customer's storage area.
  • Cases usually weigh between 10 and 35 pounds; sometimes they can be between 60 and 90 pounds depending on the delivery.
  • You're the face of the company at each stop. That means verifying deliveries with customers, getting signatures, and handling cash or check payments when needed.
  • Manage any damaged goods or customer returns by bringing them back and completing the paperwork.
  • Keep your daily log of service hours updated to stay compliant with all DOT rules.
  • Tidy up your tractor and trailer throughout your shift. At the end of the day, secure all equipment and finish your reports.

The basics we need from you

  • A valid CDL B license is mandatory.
  • You need at least 12 months of commercial driving experience under your belt.
  • A high school diploma or GED (or state approved equivalent).
  • You have to be at least 21 years old.
  • A clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) for the last three years is required.
  • A current DOT Health Card, or you must be able to get one promptly.
  • You'll need to pass a road test with us after accepting an offer.
