About This Role

The Job

You'll work inside an Amazon fulfillment center getting orders ready for customers. The work happens in different areas ; merch, make on demand, customer returns, Prime Now, and general fulfillment. Some shifts support the super fast delivery service where orders go out in two hours or less.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Receive inventory and put it away
  • Get customer orders ready and pack them up
  • Load boxes onto trucks for shipment
  • Use scanners to read bar codes on products
  • Follow prompts on screens to complete tasks
  • Troubleshoot problems when they come up
  • Check that products meet quality standards
  • Operate power industrial trucks (PIT) like forklifts or pallet drivers ; training and certification provided free of cost
  • Work at heights up to 35 feet; sometimes up to 40 feet on a mezzanine
  • Lift up to 49 pounds and push utility carts up to 60 pounds
  • Stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend, and reach during your shift
  • Use carts, dollies, hand trucks, and other gear to move items around
  • Go up and down stairs where applicable
  • Follow strict safety, quality, and production standards at all times

The Schedule & Pay

The hourly pay rate goes up to $20.50. Shifts are posted daily based on open positions ; you'll find day shifts, overnight shifts, and weekend options. Depending on the location you choose schedules can be full time (40 hours), reduced time (30 36 hours), or part time (20 hours or less). There's also something called Anytime Shifts where you can work as little as four hours per week if that fits your life better.

The Work Environment (No Fluff)

Safety. You get protective gear provided. Teams share safety tips every day.

Surroundings. Moving machines are everywhere ; order pickers, stand up forklifts, turret trucks, mobile carts. You'll be around them all shift.

Temperatures. Even with climate controls some parts of the warehouse run between 60°F and 90°F. On hot days the truck yard or inside trailers can go over 90°F.

Noise level. It gets noisy sometimes. Hearing protection is available if you need it.

The Dress Code & Gear Provided

The dress code is relaxed but safe: closed toe shoes are required. Depending on the role or location Amazon gives you a $110 Zappos gift code toward buying shoes so you're set for day one.
