About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this driving job at Tucker Freight Lines in Kansas City, MO. I've been placing drivers with them for a while now. The owners, Sauny and AJ, actually get it; AJ drove OTR himself. They run this like a family business that remembers you're a person, not just a seat in a truck. You're choosing between three different runs, so you can pick the schedule and pay that fits your life.
The Runs & The Pay
They've got three setups: Local, Flex, and OTR. Your weekly check depends on which one you pick.
- Local Dry Van: You're home every night. Day cabs, running within about 250 miles of Davenport or Dubuque. Base pay is $20 to $26 an hour, depending on exactly where you're based out of. Drivers average around $1,300 a week. There are day and night shifts open.
- Flex Dry Van: This one gets you home for 3 nights or more each week. You start between 6 AM and 8 AM, Monday through Friday. The base is $23 an hour, plus another dollar an hour in safety and performance bonuses. Average weekly pay is about $1,400.
- OTR Dry Van: This is where the top earning is. Drivers average up to $1,750 a week. You're paid 47 cents per mile base, plus another 17 CPM in those safety and performance bonuses. They get you home weekly or monthly (depends on your location). Mostly Midwest lanes, and over 60% of your loads are drop and hook. They also have a Weekend Warrior package for extra pay if you want it.
What You Get
The stuff that makes the job sustainable.
- The trucks are seriously nice; 2024 and newer Freightliners and Kenworths. They all have APUs and the upgraded interior packages.

- A 401(k) plan where the company matches what you put in.
- A health savings account (HSA) option.
- Life insurance policy paid for by the company.

- Orientation is paid time.
- $100 bonus for every clean DOT inspection you get.
- You can bring your pet or a rider along with their policy.
- Quarterly bonuses on top of everything else.
- If you refer another driver for an OTR spot and they get hired, there's a bonus up to $5,000 waiting for you.
