Speech Language Pathologist

Lifepoint Rehabilitation·Kansas City, MO

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Speech Language Pathologist role at Kindred Hospital in Kansas City, MO. I've been placing therapists for over a decade, and what stands out here is the structure. It's a full time hospital position where you're the expert for your caseload, from evaluation to discharge. You're not just treating patients; you're coordinating with the whole care team and making sure the path to going home is clear. If you like seeing a plan through and having that level of responsibility, this is your kind of place.

What you'll do

You'll manage your own designated group of patients. That means you own their speech and language therapy journey.

  • Perform evaluations and develop the plan of care.
  • Provide all treatments and modalities following physician's orders.
  • Continuously assess how treatment is working and adjust to hit those goals.
  • A big part of the job is communication. You'll work directly with patients, their families, caregivers, and the rest of the healthcare team to align on goals and get the best outcomes.
  • You'll plan for discharge from day one.
  • The role includes supervising and mentoring others, like interns, students, or volunteers.
  • You're also involved in the bigger picture stuff: contributing to program development, performance improvement projects, and even giving input on departmental budgeting.
  • Assessing patient and family education needs is key, then providing that education.
  • And of course, creating and maintaining a safe environment for everyone; patients, visitors, staff; by assessing risks and implementing the right precautions is fundamental.

What we're looking for

The qualifications are specific. We need someone who checks these boxes.

  • A Bachelor's and a Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology, Communication Disorders, Communicative Disorders, or a very similar title that's acceptable to ASHA.
  • You must either possess or be eligible for your Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from ASHA. Being eligible to start your Clinical Fellowship (CFY) also works.
  • You need to be licensed or eligible for licensure as an SLP in this state.
  • A current Basic Life Support/CPR card is required.

The details & what you get

The schedule is full time. The pay range is $45 to $60 per hour. There's also a $2,500 sign on bonus attached to this position.

The benefits package is genuinely comprehensive. They've structured it around supporting you so you can focus on your patients without extra stress.

  • Health Coverage: Multiple tiers of medical, dental, and vision plans to choose from. They even have tailored options for part time staff if your situation changes later.
  • Financial Safety Nets: Life insurance; accident, critical illness, and hospital indemnity insurance; short- and long term disability coverage; plus paid family leave are all part of the deal alongside paid time off.
