About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this job. It's for the person who runs the Pre Op and PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. This isn't a staff nurse role; you're the manager. You're the one making sure the unit runs smoothly, the team is supported, and patients get great care from check in to recovery.

What You'll Be Doing

You're in charge of the day to day. That means managing staffing, keeping an eye on clinical quality, and making sure everything aligns with hospital policies and goals.

  • Overseeing daily operations and staffing for the Pre Op and PACU units.
  • Monitoring nursing care to ensure it meets established standards and supports positive patient outcomes.
  • Implementing evidence based practices to improve patient safety and care quality.
  • Fostering a culture where everyone is accountable and communication is clear.
  • Managing equipment maintenance schedules to meet all regulatory standards.
  • Streamlining patient admission and discharge processes for efficient flow.
  • Coordinating care between different departments to make sure it's seamless for patients.
  • Making sure staff assignments match patient needs and staff skillsets.

The Qualifications You Need

The requirements are pretty specific here. They need someone with both the clinical background and some leadership experience.

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is required. An Associate Degree in Nursing is also required (this implies you need both, or that a BSN is required but they will consider an ADN with other factors).
  • A minimum of one year of experience working in healthcare is required.
  • At least one year of experience in a leadership role is preferred; it gives you a strong edge.

The Benefits & The Environment

The benefits package here is substantial. Research Medical Center is part of HCA Healthcare, which means resources and stability. The hospital itself is a major facility; over 585 beds; with a wide range of services from women's health and orthopedics to a Level I Trauma Center and Stroke Center. You're not on an island; you're part of a big system that's investing heavily in its facilities.

The benefits supporting "health, life, career, and retirement" include:

  • Medical plans with low cost options covering prescriptions, behavioral health, telemedicine, and even emergency air transport.
  • Extra options for dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
  • A whole suite of supplemental plans for things like accidents or critical illness, plus auto, home, pet insurance, legal help, identity protection; it's a long list designed for real life.
  • A 401(k) where they match 100% on 3% to 9% of your pay (the percentage depends on how long you've been there).
  • A chance to buy HCA stock at a 10% discount through their Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
  • Serious family support: fertility treatment benefits through Progyny adoption assistance help with finding childcare or elder care even pet care referrals.
  • Education assistance for tuition student loans or certifications along with dependent scholarships. A paid time off program that includes paid family leave. An Employee Health Assistance Fund offering coverage based on income. Free counseling services for emotional physical or financial wellbeing. Recognition programs consumer discounts all that stuff. It’s comprehensive. They’ve thought about it.
