About This Role

Nuclear Medicine Technologist

This is a PRN position at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. It's not a regular full time schedule, but you'll be part of the team that steps in when needed.

You're doing the actual nuclear medicine work. That means preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients, then operating the imaging equipment to get the pictures doctors need for diagnosis and research. You'll collaborate with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and physicists as part of the care team.

What You'll Do

  • Complete all nuclear medicine procedures, including standard imaging and specific therapies.
  • Your daily work follows established policies, safety protocols, and infection control guidelines.
  • You’ll operate within the standards set by JCAHO and other regulatory agencies.
  • The role includes participating in Performance and Quality Improvement activities for the department.
  • You’ll handle radiology filing systems to pull up prior exam reports.
  • A big part of this is communicating clearly with patients, physicians, nurses, and other staff.
  • The job requires accurately completing requisitions for every exam you perform.
  • After an orientation period, you’re expected to operate all nuclear medicine equipment correctly and safely.
  • There's routine use of office stuff: phones, faxes, pagers.

The Specifics We Need

  • A graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program. That could be a two year or four year BA program followed by training from an accredited Nuclear Medicine Program. Or training directly from an accredited school in Nuclear Medicine itself.
  • You must have your American Registry of Radiology Technology certification in Nuclear Medicine (ARRT NM) or be registry eligible with completion of that exam within 9 months of your start date. Certification as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist (NMTB) also works.
  • A minimum of one year of hospital department experience specifically in Nuclear Medicine is required.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required within 30 days of your start date.
