Medical Lab Technician

The Role

Research Medical Center is offering a $20,000 sign on bonus for qualified candidates in this Medical Lab Technician position. You'll work in a 585+ bed hospital that includes a Level I Trauma Center, Chest Pain Center, Breast Care Center, and Primary Stroke Center. It's part of HCA Midwest Health, which runs 10 hospitals around the Kansas City area.

What You'll Do

• Run routine and complex lab tests across toxicology, chemistry, hematology, immunology, and microbiology to help diagnose and treat patients.
• Perform chemical, hematology, serological, immunohematology, and microscopic procedures in one or more lab sections.
• Produce accurate results in hematology, serology, chemistry, blood bank, coagulation, urinalysis, microbiology ; plus other areas as needed.
• Keep quality results by running standards and controls; calibrate equipment using approved testing procedures; verify equipment function through routine maintenance; monitor quality control measures and protocols.

Qualifications

• A bachelor's degree in laboratory science or a related science field is required.
• You qualify if you're "Grandfathered" as a medical technologist by CLIA 88.
• Certification as MT(ASCP), CLS or MLS(ASCP), or BB(ASCP), C(ASCP), I(ASCP), H(ASCP), or M(ASCP) ; or equivalent ; is required.
• If you're registry/certification eligible right now you need to obtain that within one year of hire.
• Previous experience is preferred but not mandatory.
