IT Support Specialist

Leidos·Kansas City, MO

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this job. It's not for everyone. You'd be working on the main global network for the Navy and Marine Corps, which is a pretty big deal. The program itself is the largest IT services contract in Naval history. Your piece of that is providing tier 1 help desk support from Kansas City, MO.

What you'll do

You're the first point of contact when someone has an IT problem. That means picking up the phone or handling online requests, figuring out what's wrong, and fixing it when you can.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for users.
  • If you can't fix it, you follow the escalation process to get it to the right team.
  • Your shift also involves keeping an eye on network health and status.
  • When there's an outage, you document it and communicate that info to your team and customers.
  • You'll execute scripts as part of standard procedures.
  • A big part of the day is managing tickets: opening them, closing them, updating them.
  • You'll correlate events and incidents to help manage the overall IT services.

What you need to have

The basics are non negotiable here because of the work we do.

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • You need three years of relevant experience under your belt.
  • This role requires U.S. citizenship.
  • You must have an active Department of Defense Secret security clearance, or be able to obtain one.
  • A DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification is mandatory; that means something like CompTIA Security+.
  • The schedule isn't a standard 9 to 5. You have to be willing to work shifts, which includes evenings and weekends.

It'd be great if you had

While not strict requirements, these skills will help you hit the ground running.

  • Solid IT customer service experience is a plus.
  • A couple years using an IT ticketing system would be helpful.
  • Some hands on time; about a year; with remote desktop takeover tools would make your life easier here too.
