Interventional Radiology Technologist

About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this opening on our Interventional Radiology team at Saint Luke's North Hospital in Kansas City, MO.

We need a nurse who's used to handling higher acuity patients. If your background is in Intensive Care, the ED, or other procedural areas, you'll fit right in. This isn't a standard floor job; it's a busy, unique procedural space where you'll be caring for Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology patients. You're a vital part of the team providing care and sedation for some serious procedures.

What you'll do here

Your day is varied. You'll prep and recover cardiac cath patients. You'll work inside the Interventional Radiology lab during procedures themselves. A big part of the role is providing nursing care, including administering moderate sedation when it's needed, for procedures done in our CVIR Holding and Recovery unit. That covers things like TEEs, cardioversions, and bronchoscopies.

But it doesn't stop there. You'll also provide nursing care in other parts of Radiology during invasive procedures, like CT and ultrasound guided biopsies. Sometimes you'll monitor patients during MRI pacemaker studies. And yes, starting IVs for staff when they need an extra hand is part of the gig too.

  • Use your nursing process every day.
  • Delegate tasks where it makes sense.
  • Make good judgement calls when interpreting data and figuring out what needs attention first.
  • Look for ways to make things better; whether it's nursing practice, patient care, or how the unit runs.
  • Be a go to resource for your colleagues on the unit and in the department.
  • Step up with some informal leadership around here.

You've got to work well with a full multidisciplinary team. That means collaborating smoothly with Interventional Radiologists, Anesthesiology teams, various specialty service providers, and your fellow nurses.

The schedule & requirements

This is a full time position on the day shift. It’s Monday through Friday… but there’s a catch that comes with the territory. You have to participate in an after hours and holiday on call rotation. That’s required.

On paper, we need someone with an Associate Degree in Nursing and at least two years of experience as a Registered Nurse. You must have an active Missouri RN license through NURSYS.
