Industrial Operator

What this role is

ConGlobal has an immediate opening for an Industrial Operator in Kansas City, MO. This is a full time position where you'll handle intermodal containers ; unloading them, loading them, and moving them around the depot yard. You'll use a top lift or side loader and work with gate personnel to keep driver wait times low. The job also involves supporting the maintenance team by moving equipment that needs repairs or inspections.

What you'll actually do day to day

• Operate top lift and/or side loader equipment to move containers within the yard
• Load and unload intermodal containers from chassis ; and back onto them
• Stack and unstack containers and chassis according to the established yard plan
• Coordinate with gate personnel when drivers drop off or pick up equipment
• Move equipment for the maintenance team so they can perform repairs or inspections
• Perform routine safety checks; report any equipment issues or safety concerns
• Follow site safety protocols and help keep the yard clean and organized

The schedule reality here

You need open availability. That means all shifts, weekends, and holidays are on the table. It's not a Monday through Friday gig. Make sure that works for your life before applying.

Pay

$20.00 to $22.50 per hour, depending on your experience level.

A valid driver's license is required. Applications without one will not be considered.

The other qualifications we need from you

• Experience operating a top lift, side loader, or similar heavy equipment ; this isn't optional training for someone who's never done it before
• A strong attention to safety and good situational awareness in a busy yard environment
• The ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (rain, sun, cold, heat)
• A teamwork oriented attitude; you'll be coordinating with drivers and other staff regularly
• The ability to follow safety requirements at all times without exception
• The physical capacity to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
• A valid driver's license (again: yes, we mean it)
• The ability to pass a pre employment background check and drug screening ; note that cannabis use is strictly prohibited per Federal Rail Administration regulations governing this type of work; if offered the position you must take and pass that drug screen beforehand) Full legal language applies but basically: no cannabis if you want this job)
