About This Role

Hey there. I've been recruiting for ICU nurses for over a decade, and I can tell you this isn't your average job board listing. This is the real deal from Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. They're offering a $10,000 sign on bonus for experienced RNs (and yes, that's for eligible folks; it doesn't stack with other HCA bonuses or loan programs). Let's talk about what they're actually looking for.

The Work

You'll coordinate and deliver high quality, patient centered care in the ICU. It's all about using established nursing models; think Assess, Perform, Teach, Manage; to provide individualized and compassionate care. You're a key part of the team.

  • You perform procedures and monitoring as ordered.
  • Your documentation in the patient medical record needs to be timely and thorough.
  • A big part of this is teaching patients and their families. You'll translate complex medical terms so everything is understood clearly, covering their condition, treatment plans, medications with possible side effects, and follow up measures.
  • That teaching also extends to non medical guidance on things like healthy diets, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes to prepare them for future self management.
  • You'll manage evidence based practices and work on continuous process improvement initiatives to hit quality measures.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate, evaluate, customize, and deliver holistic treatment plans is central to the role.

What You Need to Bring

The requirements are specific. Here’s the list straight from them.

  • A Registered Nurse Diploma is required.
  • You must be a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is required.
  • You need to obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 6 months of starting.
  • You also need to obtain either Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses or a Trauma Nursing Core Course within 1 year of your start date.

The Place & The Support

They're part of HCA Healthcare's network of over 2,000 sites of care. They call their benefits package a "total rewards" package designed to support health, life, career, and retirement. It's extensive.

The Benefits Package

This is where it gets detailed. I'm listing everything they mentioned so you have the full picture.
