About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Float Pool RN position at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. I've been placing nurses here for years, and the float pool is a different animal. It's not for everyone, but if you're the type who gets bored doing the same thing day after day, it might be perfect for you.

The Role

You won't have a home unit. Instead, you'll move between assignments, supporting different departments across the hospital based on where the need is greatest that day. It means you're constantly adapting to new teams, new protocols, and new patient populations.

That requires a specific kind of nurse. You need to think on your feet and pull from a broad clinical knowledge base. Staying calm when things get hectic is non negotiable; you're often the fresh set of eyes walking into an unfamiliar situation. The upside? You get to see how the entire hospital operates, learn from different specialties, and really understand what makes each unit tick.

What You Need to Bring

  • A current Registered Nurse license.
  • Your nursing diploma.
  • A Basic Cardiac Life Support certification. If you don't have it at hire, you'll need to get it within your first 30 days.

The Schedule & Pay

This is a full time position working nights. The shift is 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. The pay range is $29.42 - $43.65 per hour, and that rate is based on your experience.

About Research Medical Center

It's a big place; over 585 beds; and part of the HCA Midwest Health system. They've got a full spectrum of services: a Level I Trauma Center, a dedicated Stroke Center, women's health with obstetrics, orthopedics, cardiac care, and a separate psychiatric center (Research Psychiatric Center) for behavioral health. You won't run out of places to float to.

  • Medical Insurance: Covers many common services with low or no copay. Includes prescription drug and behavioral health coverage, plus free telemedicine and AirMed medical transportation.
  • Additional Options: You can add dental, vision, life insurance, and disability coverage.
  • Financial & Legal: Flexible spending accounts are available. There are also supplemental plans for accidents or critical illness, along with auto, home, and pet insurance options. They offer identity theft protection and legal counseling.
  • Support Programs: Free counseling services for emotional, physical, and financial wellbeing are included. Family support features fertility/family building benefits (Progyny) and adoption assistance.
  • Retirement Planning: A 401(k) plan with a company match; they'll match 100% of what you contribute from 3% up to 9% of your pay (the match amount depends on your years of service). There's also an Employee Stock Purchase Plan where you can buy HCA stock at a 10% discount.
  • Time Off & Leave: Their Time Away From Work Program covers paid time off (PTO), paid family leave, and both short- and long term disability coverage.
  • Education Help: Assistance is available for tuition reimbursement or student loans as well as certification support; there are even dependent scholarships offered through their program too which could help out if anyone else in your household wants schooling opportunities while working here full time like this role requires so keep that mind when applying because these things matter long term right?
