Emergency Room RN

Hey there. I'm putting this listing together for our Emergency Room at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, MO. We're part of HCA Healthcare, and we're looking for a few more RNs to join the team.

There's a $10,000 sign on bonus on the table for experienced RNs. It's for eligible candidates and can't be combined with other bonuses or HCA loans and scholarships.

The Work

You'd be coordinating and delivering patient centered care in the ER. That means working with providers and the rest of the care team to provide individualized, comprehensive care. You'll use established nursing models like "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage."

A big part of it is being an advocate for patients and their families. You'll assess patient pain regularly to manage it effectively, including reassessing after interventions. You'll perform procedures and monitoring as ordered.

Documentation needs to be timely and thorough in the patient record. We expect you to respond promptly to patient requests. The goal is to anticipate needs before they become issues.

You'll also teach patients and their families about medical conditions, status, treatment plans, medications with possible side effects, and follow up measures. Translating complex medical info into plain language is key. Teaching extends to non medical follow up like diet, exercise, disease prevention, or lifestyle changes; all to prepare patients for future self management.

What You Need

• A Registered Nurse (RN) Diploma.
• You need Advanced Cardiac Life Support (or ACLS Instructor) within 30 days of starting.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (or BCLS Instructor) is also required within 30 days of starting.
• Within your first year, you must obtain either Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), or become a TNCC Instructor.
• Also within that first year, you need Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
