About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this Site Manager role in Kansas City, MO. This isn't a remote gig; you're running the show on site. You'll be the one responsible for everything that happens at this contract logistics facility, from the moment freight comes in to when it goes out. That means safety, service, the financials, and keeping your team engaged are all on you.

What you'll do

You're in charge of all site operations. You'll lead supervisors and frontline teams, making sure we hit our contractual obligations and performance targets every day.

  • Own the site's Profit & Loss statement. You manage labor costs, variable expenses, and period costs.
  • Plan the workforce, forecast volume, and manage capacity so resources match demand.
  • Keep a close eye on operational and financial performance; when things go off track, you implement fixes.
  • Manage capital spending for approved projects and improvements.
  • Sponsor projects aimed at boosting productivity, quality, speed, and cost efficiency.
  • Establish and manage performance metrics for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity.
  • Run regular operational reviews to assess results and find opportunities to get better.
  • Ensure everyone follows standard work procedures and quality plans.
  • Lead customer facing operational reviews to discuss planning and performance.
  • Partner directly with customers to identify ways to improve processes and operations.
  • Act as the main point of contact between customers and our internal support teams like HR or IT.
  • The facility needs to be clean, organized, safe, and compliant. Think 5S principles.
  • A big part of this is coaching your leadership team. You'll manage their performance and develop succession plans to build up the site's capabilities over time.

The background we need

A high school diploma or GED is required. An undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or a related field from an accredited college is preferred but not mandatory if you have the right experience.

The experience you should have

  • A minimum of five years in a leadership role within third party logistics (3PL), contract logistics, manufacturing or a similar hands on operations environment is non negotiable here. I'm looking for someone who's done this before at a site level with full P&L accountability. Experience managing customer facing operations in a contract or service based setting. You need strong functional knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning tools like SAP or Oracle. A solid working knowledge of operational KPIs; you know how to plan labor effectively. Familiarity with LEAN Six Sigma or other structured continuous improvement methods is important; I want someone who's actually applied these tools on the floor. You've developed performance dashboards before; you can create track analyze metrics related to safety quality delivery cost productivity. You've supported or led continuous improvement initiatives using data driven problem solving approaches. And finally discretion matters: you must handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
