About the Role
This is a nursing job in the Cath Lab, but your time will be spent in the Prep and Recovery unit. You're the RN who gets patients ready for their cardiovascular or electrophysiology procedures and then cares for them afterward. It's all about that direct bedside care.
You'll handle medications, manage procedural documentation, and monitor patients during specific tests like cardiac stress tests or tilt table tests. For transesophageal echo procedures, you'll administer conscious sedation. A big part of this is communication; you're talking with physicians and patient families about conditions and updates.
The schedule is full time, with three 12 hour shifts per week.
What You'll Do Here
- Prepare adult patients for procedures in the CV Lab and provide their post procedure recovery care.
- Administer medications and manage all patient documentation within the Prep and Recovery unit.
- Provide conscious sedation for patients undergoing transesophageal echos.
- Monitor patients during cardiac stress tests, tilt table tests, and cardioversions.
- Handle the psychosocial, physical, and general care needs related to procedure prep and recovery.
- Communicate directly with physicians and patient family members as needed.
- Help with equipment maintenance and managing unit inventory.
- Take part in departmental performance improvement and continuous quality initiatives.
The Must Haves
- A current Registered Nurse license (RN).
- A nursing diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor's Degree.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification; you need to get this within your first 30 days if you don't have it already.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification; you need to obtain this within 6 months of starting the job.
