About This Role

Let's talk about the work

You're monitoring and analyzing heart rhythms, interpreting ECGs, and noting arrhythmias. When things get critical, you intervene.

Our cardiac telemetry nurses handle a specific mix of patients. You'll care for people recovering from open heart surgery, heart catheterizations with stents, ablations, and pacemaker or AICD placements. We're also a comprehensive stroke and STEMI facility.

The unit itself is two separate 29 bed floors dedicated to cardiac care. The patient types are acute and chronic heart failure; electrophysiology cases like pacemakers and ablations; structural heart procedures such as mitral clips, TAVR, TMVR, Watchman devices, and valve angioplasties; post op day one open heart patients; and folks post cardiac catheterization.

A few things make this place different. Research Medical Center is one of the few hospitals that cares for TAVR patients outside of the ICU. You'll work closely with cardiology providers, including getting physician led education on evidence based cardiac care. It's high level nursing for patients who need critical care without being in the ICU.

Growth here isn't just a talking point

Working in these units builds serious critical thinking skills. Nurses from our department regularly move into the ICU, the cardiac cath lab, the EP lab, or leadership roles.

The leaders in those areas work with you to understand your goals and give you opportunities to learn about positions you might want. We collaborate across departments to make any transition you're interested in as smooth as possible.

Typically, nurses can successfully move to another position or department within 18 to 24 months. Your leader will take an active role in helping you get where you want to go.
