Server

Great Wolf Lodge·Kansas City, KS

About This Role

What you'll do as a Server at Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City, KS

You'll help guests pick what to eat and drink by walking them through the menu, suggesting cocktails and appetizers, explaining what the chef does best, recommending wines, and answering any questions about food prep or dietary restrictions. When someone has a special need or a food allergy, you'll note that too. You'll send orders to the bar and kitchen, making sure they know about any special requests and letting them know the timing of how the meal should progress.

Once the food and drinks are ready, you'll pick everything up and deliver it to the table ; including any accompaniments and condiments from the service bar if they're requested. While guests are eating, you'll check back to see if they need anything else. You'll clear plates as courses finish, replace utensils, refill water glasses, and watch for spills or other issues. When it's time to pay, you'll total the charges, present the bill, take payment, and deliver everything to the host person. Then you'll bring back change or the credit card and signature slip. You're also responsible for following all sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies.

What you need to bring

Some high school education or equivalent is required. You need basic math skills ; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division ; since you'll handle cash. Scheduling has to be flexible based on what the business needs, which means nights, weekends, and holidays are part of the deal. A criminal background check and drug screen are required, and you'll need to pass both.

If you've got previous server experience, that's a plus. Same with prior experience using Point of Sale (POS) technology. Proven teamwork, a professional image that inspires trust and confidence, and an enthusiastic, positive energy are all good things to have, too.

Physical expectations

You need to be able to lift up to 15 pounds. Bending, stretching, and twisting are part of the job. You'll also be standing for long stretches of time.

Pay

The base pay for this role is $3.75 per hour. Where you land within the range depends on things like your education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs. The range is just one piece of the total compensation package, which can also include annual bonuses, Paid Time Off, and other perks.
