Job Overview
This tax accountant role is for someone who digs into the details and finds clarity in complexity. The position is based in Jacksonville, FL, offering a stable professional environment where accuracy is everything.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, or trusts.
- Research technical tax issues to support filing positions and planning strategies.
- Respond to notices from tax authorities and assist with audits or examinations.
- Calculate quarterly estimated tax payments and year end provisions.
- Advise on the tax implications of business decisions and transactions.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; a CPA license or progress toward it is a major plus.
- At least two years of hands on experience in tax preparation and research.
- Solid proficiency with tax software like UltraTax or ProSystem fx, and Excel.
- The ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure, especially from January through April.
- A meticulous eye for numbers and the patience to follow regulations that change every year.
What It's Like In This Role
You'll spend your day split between deep focus independent work and collaborative reviews. The team typically uses cloud based platforms for document sharing and secure client data. While the spring months are intense with overtime, the rest of the year allows for more project based work and planning. It's a role where you're expected to own your assignments but can always bounce ideas off colleagues.
Why You'll Like This Opportunity
The work itself provides constant variety; no two clients or tax situations are exactly alike. You'll have clear paths to advance into more complex advisory roles or specialize in an industry niche. There's real satisfaction in solving puzzles that have a direct financial impact for people or businesses.
Schedule & Work Type
This is primarily a full time position. Many employers offer a hybrid model after an initial onboarding period, splitting time between an office in Jacksonville, FL and remote work. Some flexibility in daily start times is common outside of peak filing seasons.
