About This Role
Alright, let's talk about this PRN Psychiatric RN spot at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. This isn't a regular full time gig; it's for when they need extra hands. You'll be working on the mental health unit, and they're looking for someone who gets how to handle that specific environment.
The Work
You're coordinating and delivering care for psychiatric patients. The model they use is "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." In practice, that means you're assessing patients when they're admitted and every shift after that. You've got to be sharp about noticing any changes and reporting them.
- Carry out procedures or monitoring as ordered.
- Your documentation needs to be timely and thorough in the patient's record.
- A big part of this is responding quickly to patient requests. Ideally, you're anticipating needs before they even have to ask.
- You'll collaborate with the whole care team; doctors, therapists, social workers; to build and manage individualized treatment plans that actually support recovery.
- Sometimes you act as the link between the hospital team and community resources to help set up what a patient needs after discharge.
What You Need To Have
First off, you need an active RN license in Florida. Your education can be an Associate Degree in Nursing, a Bachelor's degree, or a Nursing Diploma. They don't specify one over the others.
You also need at least one year of nursing experience. No travel is required for this role; it's all local at the hospital.
A couple of certifications are mandatory, but you have a 30 day window from your start date to get them if you don't already: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention training.
The Schedule & Pay
This is a PRN position. That means the hours are as needed to cover gaps in the schedule. It doesn't come with a guaranteed set number of hours each week like a full time role would.
The Benefits (For When You Work)

- Medical coverage options including prescription drug, dental, vision, behavioral health, and telemedicine services.
