
About This Role
What You'll Actually Do
This is a Physician Assistant role focused on orthopedics at ChenMed, located in Jacksonville, FL. You're working under the supervision of a Market Clinical Director and other physicians, but you're expected to function independently when it's called for. You'll collaborate with the clinical leadership team to stay compliant with guidelines.
You might also take part in risk and quality management programs, clinical meetings, or other meetings. The goal is strict adherence to departmental objectives, performance standards, regulatory compliance, and quality patient care.
- Identify short term and long range patient care issues and present them to the physician; offer your commentary and recommendations
- Assess patient health by interviewing patients, performing physical exams, and updating medical histories
- Order diagnostic tests like x rays and lab studies; interpret the results
- Chart everything in patient and department records
- Perform therapeutic procedures ; injections, immunizations, suturing, wound management
- Counsel patients on therapeutic regimens, growth and development information, family planning, emotional problems of daily living; promote wellness
- Develop patient management plans to ensure continuity of care
- Keep the work environment safe and clean per procedures and regulations
- Follow infection control policies without fail
- Stay current with federal, state, and local legal requirements ; anticipate new legislation and advise management as needed
- Keep your professional knowledge fresh through workshops, publications, networking, professional societies
- Help develop healthcare team staff through education and experiential growth opportunities
- Tackle orthopedic specific duties: identify orthopedic patients, order appropriate imaging or tests (like x rays), administer therapeutic interventions specific to orthopedics
- Takes on other duties as assigned or modified by your manager's discretion
What You Need to Bring
A Master's degree is required. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is also required. Depending on the state you practice in you might need a current DEA number for schedule II V controlled substances.
A minimum of one year of experience working in an orthopedic practice ; that's non negotiable. And you must have successfully completed a program recognized by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant. State licensure plus certification are both required too.
