OR RN

Hey there. I've been recruiting for OR nurses for over a decade, and this is one of the more solid setups I've seen come across my desk. It's at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. They're looking for an OR RN who wants to be part of the team, not just fill a slot.

What You'd Be Doing

You're the RN in the room, from start to finish. That means evaluating patients before they go under, and making sure they and their families understand what's happening every step of the way. You'll handle IVs, pre op meds, and verifying the surgical site.

• Running the safety protocols; the briefing, time out, and debriefing; is a core part of your day.
• You need to be ready to recognize and respond if a patient crashes.
• A big part of this is applying nursing judgment independently while still being a key member of a dynamic team with surgeons, techs, and providers.
• You're assessing, monitoring, and documenting changes in patient condition thoroughly.
• And you're constantly educating patients and their families about conditions, treatments, and what comes next.

The Schedule & Environment

They use a self scheduling system posted four weeks out so you can plan your life. There's a culture of mutual respect among all the surgical staff here; it's not just talk. They invest heavily in new equipment; instruments, devices, positioning systems; to make your work safer and more efficient.

Leaders round regularly to get your input on improving patient care and workflow. But it's not all sunshine; taking call during select nights and weekends is required for this role.

What You Need to Bring

You need an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), a Bachelor's (BSN), or a Nursing Diploma. Your state RN license is non negotiable.

• You must get your Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days of starting.
• The same 30 day rule applies for your Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• And you also need to obtain your Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within that first month.

A Bit About The Hospital

Memorial Hospital has been around since 1969. It's a 450+ bed acute care facility that acts as a regional hub. They run three different 24 hour ER locations and operate as a Level II trauma center. Their specialized programs have earned certifications: Chest Pain Center accreditation by ACC/AHA standards exists here along with Joint Commission certified Stroke Center status plus sepsis certification from them too . The Heart Center operates alongside Bone/Joint services while maternity care remains central within community offerings overall .
