This is a hands on driving role for someone who prefers the open road to an office desk. You'll operate commercial vehicles out of the Jacksonville, FL area, handling regional or local routes that keep commerce moving. Duties & Responsibilities

• Execute pre trip and post trip inspections thoroughly, noting any mechanical issues.
• Transport goods to various destinations, adhering strictly to delivery windows and schedules.
• Manage all required documentation, including bills of lading, hours of service logs, and delivery receipts.
• Secure cargo properly using straps, load bars, or other equipment to prevent shifting or damage.
• Maintain consistent communication with dispatch regarding route status, delays, or concerns.
• Represent the profession well through professional conduct at customer sites and in compliance with all traffic laws.

Requirements

• A valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
• Recent verifiable experience as a commercial driver is preferred.
• A current DOT medical examiner's certificate is mandatory.
• The ability to pass a pre employment drug screen and background check.
• You need the physical capability to handle freight, which includes lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing in and out of the cab, and coupling/uncoupling trailers.
• A solid grasp of map reading, GPS systems, and federal hours of service regulations is essential.

You'll spend most of your day independently managing your route from the cab. Dispatch is your main point of contact via radio or mobile device. The tools are your truck, an electronic logging device (ELD), and often a handheld scanner for paperwork.
