Cardiovascular ICU RN
About This Role
What you'll actually do as a Cardiovascular ICU RN
Every shift in the CVICU at HCA Florida Memorial Hospital is different, but the core of the work stays the same. You'll take care of critically ill patients, manage ventilators, and step in when a Code Blue is called. That means you need to move fast and think clearly ; initiating protocols, handling cardiac monitoring, and running special procedures when they're needed.
You'll keep patients moving through the unit efficiently, from screening and prepping for exams to arranging tests and admissions. Administering meds per physician orders, checking rooms daily for supplies, and fielding phone calls (including triage when it's necessary) all come with the territory. And you'll spend real time with patients and their families ; explaining medications, treatment plans, and what comes next.
Documentation matters here, too. You'll maintain and review patient records, posting test and exam results as you go.
How you'll grow
HCA doesn't just want you to show up and do the job. They want you to get better at it. The hospital will sponsor you to earn the Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification, and they'll also back you getting your CCRN or other relevant certifications ; with monetary incentives when you do.
There's a clinical ladder that ties directly to base salary increases, and cross training opportunities are available in areas like ECMO and leadership. So if you want to move up or sideways into something new, the path is there.
What you need to bring
- A graduate from an accredited nursing school with an Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher
- An active RN license in the state you practice ; or a Compact/Multi State license that covers you
- Current BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Current ACLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- At least 1 year of acute care or hospital critical care RN experience
- Prior experience with heart recovery patients and a strong background in cardiovascular medication is preferred
Schedule details
This is a full time, night shift position. You'll work 12 hour shifts, roughly from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Rotating weekends and holidays are part of the deal.
