About This Role

Alright, let's talk about this maintenance role at the mill in Irving, TX. It's not a desk job. You'll be the one keeping the machinery running, which means a mix of scheduled checks, urgent repairs, and everything in between. If you like solving problems with your hands and seeing a direct result from your work, this is probably your kind of place.

What you'd be doing

The core of it is keeping equipment operational and safe. You're not just fixing things when they break; you're trying to stop them from breaking in the first place.

  • Handle preventative maintenance using checklists and schedules.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues when equipment goes down.
  • Perform installations and test them to make sure everything's working right.
  • Repair and rebuild rotating equipment like pumps and gearboxes.
  • Work from mechanical blueprints, drawings, and sketches for layout and piping work.
  • Use welding techniques for fabrication and repair on various metals.
  • Diagnose problems, figure out the best fix, and create maintenance requests for what you find.
  • You'll collaborate with the rest of the maintenance crew on bigger projects that need multiple skills.

The background we need

We're looking for someone who's been in an industrial setting before. You know the tools, you know the safety rules, and you can work without someone watching over your shoulder every minute.

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • You need at least two years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Mechanical troubleshooting isn't just a phrase; it's something you've done regularly.
  • You can read mechanical blueprints and do layout work.
  • Experience threading and fitting piping is necessary.
  • We need someone skilled in rebuilding pumps, gearboxes, and similar equipment, including installing bearings and seals.
  • You should know basic welding and how to use an acetylene torch or plasma cutter safely.
  • A working knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial lubrication requirements is important.
  • Safety isn't negotiable. You must have experience with lockout/tagout, fall protection, confined space entry, PPE, and machine guarding protocols.

The physical side of things

This is a hands on job in a plant. Be ready for it.

  • You'll be on your feet most of the day with some awkward or repetitive movements involved.
  • The job requires moving tools and materials weighing up to 50 pounds by yourself.
  • Expect balancing, stooping kneeling crouching or working in tight spaces.
