About This Role
Business Analyst
Golden State Foods is a leader in the food service industry, serving a wide range of clients with quality products and services. We're looking for a Business Analyst to work in Irvine, CA at our global headquarters. This role reports directly to the Corporate Treasurer and supports cash management, banking platforms, and treasury operations across the company. It's a visible position that touches liquidity and cash operations every day.
Here's what you'd actually do in this role. You'll manage daily cash positioning and lead the 13 week cash flow forecast. You'll handle bank platforms and controls, deliver timely reporting to leadership, and find ways to improve treasury processes and automation. And you'll work closely with Accounting, AP/AR, FP&A, Tax, and business unit finance teams to keep things funded, minimize risk, and support cash strategy decisions.
Core responsibilities
- Administer banking portals and treasury workflows including user entitlements, tokens, templates, and entitlements reviews. This includes managing fraud mitigation tools like positive pay, ACH filters and blocks, and wire verification. You'll support cash management for all GSF entities.
- Initiate, review, and release domestic and international payments (ACH and wires). Enforce dual control and cutoff discipline. Monitor exception items and fraud alerts.
- Maintain bank documentation including account openings and closings, authorized signers, and service requests. Coordinate fee reviews and service optimization. This represents about 25% of the role.
- Participate in period end closing processes. Prepare account reconciliations, manage disbursements and incoming donations, lead the annual audit, and handle financial analysis and journal entries for the Golden State Foods Foundation. That's another 25%.
- Handle daily cash positioning and short term liquidity management across operating and disbursement accounts. Make sure there's enough funding for obligations while optimizing idle cash. Contribute to the 13 week cash flow forecast by gathering inputs, modeling receipts and disbursements, analyzing variances, and recommending actions to close gaps or capitalize on surpluses. Partner with FP&A and business units to align the forecast with operational drivers, seasonality, and working capital initiatives. This is 20% of the role.
- Prepare daily cash journal entries and complete bank reconciliations for Golden State Foods. About 10% of your time.
- Monitor and maintain current listings of outstanding checks across all disbursement accounts to reduce unclaimed property exposure. That's another 10%.
- Improve and automate treasury processes like cash positioning, bank reconciliation, payment workflows, and reporting using advanced Excel and Power BI. Increase straight through processing rates, reduce manual touchpoints, and strengthen internal controls. Roughly 5% of the role.
- Support ad hoc projects like KYC refreshes, service migrations, fee benchmarking, or capital markets support when needed. Another 5%.
What you need to bring
You should have a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. That's required. A CTP (Certified Treasury Professional) certification or active pursuit is strongly preferred.
You need 4 to 7 years of experience in treasury operations or cash management with hands on work in cash positioning, short term forecasting, ACH and wire processing, bank portals, and reconciliations. That experience could be in a corporate or banking environment. Public accounting or audit exposure is a plus, and experience supporting audits and responding to inquiries is preferred.
Technical skills that matter
- Advanced Excel skills: index/match or XLOOKUP, pivot tables, scenario modeling.
- Familiarity with Power BI and Power Automate (or similar tools) is preferred.
- Proficiency with major banking portals and controls like positive pay, ACH filters and blocks, and user entitlements.
- Experience with a Treasury Management System (TMS) is a plus.
