Radiology Technologist

What you'd be doing

You're the one running the show for diagnostic x rays. That means getting patients ready and positioned correctly, choosing the right technical factors, and keeping radiation safety front of mind.

• You'll handle contrast media when it's needed, watch how patients are responding, and speak up if something seems off.
• Before any images get sent off to the system, you're checking them. Making sure they're technically sound, properly marked, and have all the right patient info attached is a big part of the job.
• Keeping an eye on how the equipment is functioning and reporting any issues is part of your routine.
• The work includes maintaining a clean, organized space in the procedure rooms and storage areas. You'll follow all the safety protocols, which sometimes means doing lockout/tagout procedures.

What you need to bring

On the education side, it's one of these paths: a high school diploma plus two years of relevant experience; an Associate's or Technical degree; or four years of specific job experience.

The certifications are non negotiable and time sensitive:

• A BLS Provider certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. You need to get this within one month of starting.
• Your Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) Radiologic Technologist credential has to be in hand before your first day.
• You also need one of these within your first year: a Cardiographic Tech credential from CCI; a Limited Radiology Tech credential from IEMA; or your ARRT Radiography credential (any specialty). A temporary ARRT license works if you don't have the permanent one yet.
