The Work

You'll be on nights, full time, with rotations for weekends and holidays. The schedule's built around that.

Your main job is to be the first line of defense when patients come in critical. That means leading rapid assessments to stabilize people and making sure the right interventions happen fast. You've got to be sharp with triage; you're deciding who needs care immediately in a high volume ER.

• Work directly with the trauma team to run complex treatments and procedures when the pressure's on.
• A big part of this is talking clearly with patients and their families when they're scared, giving them guidance and support.
• Safety is everything. You're expected to monitor patients closely and double check any high risk meds.

What You Need to Bring

First off, you need an Indiana RN license from the state board before your start date.

• You have to get your BLS Provider certification within your first 30 days. The American Heart Association or Red Cross versions are accepted.
• You also need an Advanced Life Support certification within the first 6 months. Again, AHA or Red Cross.

A Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) credential would be a real plus, but it isn't mandatory.

For education, a nursing diploma from an accredited school or college does it. Your required professional licensure counts if you have it at the time you're hired.
