About This Role
Driving with GXO in Indianapolis, IN
There's a difference between just driving a truck and actually making things run. At GXO, you'll get home every day, drive late model equipment that's well maintained, and work in an environment where your opinion matters. Safety comes first here ; not just as a slogan, but how we operate.
The schedule and pay
Pay starts at $29.00 per hour with overtime after 40 hours in a week. Consistent pay rate increases are built in. You've got three shift options to choose from:
- 2nd Shift: Monday through Friday, 2:00pm to 10:30pm
- 3rd Shift: Monday through Friday, 10:00pm to 6:30am
- Weekend 3rd Shift: Friday through Monday, 8:00pm to 6:30am
Schedules are consistent so you can plan your life around work, not the other way around.
Benefits from day one
Full health insurance kicks in on your very first day of employment. That includes major medical coverage, dental insurance, vision insurance, life insurance, and disability coverage. There's also a 401k with company match plus competitive paid time off and paid holidays.
What you'll do day to day
- Drive a tractor around the site or on public roads while moving multiple styles of 53 foot trailers
- Inspect the tractor or yard truck before and after each shift
- Safely maneuver tractor trailers through the facility within designated lanes and areas
- Keep up housekeeping inside your assigned tractor or trailer and the defined work areas
- Inspect trailers before moving them to verify condition
- Work safely and follow all safety policies and practices without exception
The basics you need to qualify
- A current valid CDL Class A with a clean driving record right now
- A current valid driver's license with a clean driving record over the past two years total (not just when behind the wheel of a big rig)
- A minimum of six months of CDL Class A experience within the last three years ; that's actual seat time behind the wheel of commercial equipment covered by your Class A license since mid 2021.
Things that will help but aren't mandatory
- A high school diploma or equivalent qualification (GED counts)
- Experience moving more than one type of trailer ; think tanks alongside vans or flatbeds instead of only pulling dry van loads month after month.
