About This Role

The Job

This is a Corrections Officer role with Aramark in Indianapolis, IN. You'll supervise inmates who are preparing meals and food items. The work follows production plans and Aramark's standards. You're the person who makes sure everything runs smoothly and safely in the kitchen.

What You'll Actually Do

  • Supervise inmates during food preparation and tray assembly
  • Make sure meals are served on time and that every Aramark guideline is met
  • Review and approve production and temperature logs
  • Print and distribute recipes. Direct inmates on how to use them and train them on proper cooking procedures
  • Help prepare and serve meals yourself
  • Check that portions are correct and any special dietary needs are handled
  • Get accurate daily population counts and go over them with staff
  • Follow security policies: keep storage areas locked at all times, make sure all kitchen tools and equipment go back to their designated secure area, and confirm every key is returned and secured
  • Set work procedures, write work schedules, and create sanitation schedules. Then make sure cooks, inmates, and food service workers stick to those schedules
  • Help with inventory. Receive and store food properly. Requisition orders as needed for approval
  • Participate in the 5 P's process: Participation, Pulls, Production, Portion Control, and Postproduction
  • Follow the company's Standard of Operation for food handling and storage. Follow HACCP policies for proper food handling procedures

What You Need to Bring

  • You must be over 18 years old
  • At least one year of food prep or related work is preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred
  • Previous experience interacting with inmates is a plus
  • You need to be able to motivate and supervise inmates or team members to hit quality and quantity goals in a correctional work environment
  • You must be able to get a food safety certification
  • Ability to work on your own with limited supervision
  • Good judgment and tact
  • You must follow basic safety procedures and policies
  • You need to qualify for and maintain a correctional facility security clearance

The Physical Side

This role has physical demands. Think lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and a lot of walking and standing. You might also need to wear a uniform or use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Pay

The hourly rate is $20.00 to $23.00. This is Aramark's good faith estimate as of the time of posting.
