About This Role
The Job
SRS Building Products in Indianapolis, IN needs a CDL B Driver who speaks Spanish. This isn't a desk job. You'll be out on the road and at job sites, hauling building materials to customers within a 200 mile radius. You start and end your shift at the home branch every single day ; no overnight travel.
What You'll Actually Do
- Safely operate a Class B vehicle following all DOT regulations
- Do thorough pre trip and post trip inspections on your truck
- Verify that the inventory on your truck matches the paperwork
- Secure your load so nothing shifts or gets damaged during transit
- Assess job site conditions when you arrive to prevent any hazards
- Work directly with customers to figure out where materials should go
- Take photos of each delivery as proof per company policy
- Help out with yard operations when you're back at the branch
- Keep everything compliant with OSHA safety standards
Who You'll Report To
Normally you'll report to the Assistant Branch Manager or the Operations Manager. There's also a chance you might supervise or help train newer drivers when needed.
Schedule & Travel
Your runs stay local and regional within 200 miles of the branch. You'll be back home the same day ; no nights away from home. The job involves long hours of driving and sometimes working in rough weather or noisy conditions.
Physical Stuff
You need to handle materials weighing up to 100 pounds. You'll load and unload using forklifts or Moffett trucks, and sometimes you'll do it manually. You'll work outside in all kinds of weather. And you need to be able to read job related documents in English.
What You Need (Minimum Requirements)
- A valid CDL Class B with an air brakes endorsement
- A clean driving record ; no shortcuts here
- 1 to 2 years of commercial driving experience
- Knowledge of both DOT and OSHA regulations
- Ability to lift 100 pounds
- The skills to operate forklifts and Moffett's safely
- High school diploma or GED
- You must be at least 18 years old (21 if you're doing interstate or hazmat)
- You'll pass a background check, drug test, and FMCSA Clearinghouse verification
- You need to pass E Verify
- Current DOT Medical Certificate
- FMCSA Registration
- Good English communication skills
What Would Make You Stand Out
- A Hazmat endorsement on your license
- Strong vehicle maintenance skills
- Experience doing multi drop deliveries
- Familiarity with fleet management systems
- Vocational or industry specific training in truck driving (nice to have)
- Multilingual abilities are a plus ; we already know you speak Spanish
- A Forklift Certification (preferred but not required)
Pay & Benefits
The base pay for this position ranges from $25.87 to $32.93 per hour. Your actual starting wage depends on things like your location, education, training, and experience. Hourly associates can also get overtime if the business needs it. Depending on your role, you might qualify for performance bonuses, commissions, a car allowance or fuel program, and reimbursement for travel expenses when you're out on the road. SRS also offers other non financial benefits.
