Alright, let's talk about this RN Telemetry position at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence, MO. I've been placing nurses here for years, and they run a solid unit. They're part of HCA, which is a massive system, but this hospital has its own feel; it's a 285 bed Level II Trauma Center with a busy ER, a Chest Pain Center, and a Level III NICU. You won't be bored.

The job itself is what you'd expect from a telemetry floor: managing complex patients, responding to changes, and being that critical link between the patient and the rest of the care team. They use that "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage" model. It's structured but it makes sense.

What You'll Be Doing

You're the primary nurse for your patients. That means you own their care from the moment they're admitted to your shift until you hand off report.

• You'll do a full assessment on admission and at the start of every shift. Spotting changes in status is huge here; you need to catch things early and communicate them.
• Carrying out orders from providers; monitoring, procedures, all of it; and making sure everything gets documented clearly and on time in the patient's record.
• Medication administration is a big part of it. You're giving the meds, watching for how the patient responds, and stepping in if there's an unexpected reaction.
• A lot of this job is about responsiveness and anticipation. Answering call lights is one thing, but figuring out what your patient might need before they even ask is what makes a difference.
• You'll spend real time teaching patients and their families. Breaking down complicated medical stuff into terms they actually understand; their condition, the treatment plan, meds with their side effects, what to do when they go home.

What You Need to Bring

The non negotiables are pretty standard for an acute care telemetry role. They need someone who can hit the ground running.

• You must have an Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and hold an active RN license.
• Your Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification needs to be current or obtained within your first 30 days on the job.
• They also require Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). You've got up to one year from your start date to get it if you don't have it already.

The Schedule & The Offer

This is a full time position. Shifts are typically three 12 hour shifts per week; you know how that goes in hospital nursing. And there's a $10k sign on bonus on the table for qualified candidates.
